Lightweight Suitcases - 5 Tips For Packing Up Your Lightweight Suitcases
When packing your lightweight suitcases, how you pack matters as much as what you pack. Follow some of these tips to help you pack your suitcase so that it doesn't cause you undue stress during your trip.
Travel Lightly -- Managing many more items than you need for a trip can be just as stressful, if not more, than if you had brought too few items. The next time you pack, place everything you want to bring on your bed or on a table. Then remove half of what you have out. Another thing to do is to give yourself plenty of time to pack, as we have a tendency to overpack when in a hurry and running out of time.
Avoid Overpacking Your Case -- Luggage that goes through an airport is subject to random inspections by the TSA. If it's your case that is pulled and checked, then you want to make sure it goes through as easily as possible. Having a suitcase that is overpacked and too full makes it harder to inspect and harder to close afterwards. Also, items in an overpacked case can accidentally drop out and be lost in the event of an inspection.
Rolling Your Clothing Saves Space -- To save some space and prevent wrinkles, roll your clothing instead of folding it. And if you roll an outfit together as one roll, it makes it easier to select outfits out of your suitcase later, while you are on vacation.
Stuff Socks And Underwear In Your Extra Shoes -- There is a lot of valuable packing space wasted when you pack shoes with nothing stuffed into them. Also, you may feel more comfortable knowing your personal things are stuffed in your shoes if your bag is opened for a random security inspection.
Limit The Size Of Toiletries -- The TSA limits liquid, gel, and aerosol toiletries to 3 ounces each in containers stored in a single 1 quart plastic bag. Because of this limit, you need to make sure you bring as few toiletries as possible in as small containers as possible. To avoid the trouble of filling empty containers with shampoo and soap, you can instead buy many different travel size products. Or, even better, if you are staying in a hotel, take advantage of those toiletries and leave yours at home. You won't have to worry about packing it or about bringing it back with you at the end of your trip, either.
