Baby Stroller Buying Guide For Moms And Dads

Before buying a stroller for your baby, you have to consider your budget, activities and places where you are going to use it more. Baby strollers come in different types and you will surely find one that will suit your needs. To help you in your search, the most common styles are briefly described here.

The first style and the least complex of all is the umbrella stroller - the kind that most airlines allow to be hand-carried up to the cabin aside from baby baskets or car seats. It is lightweight and collapses easily like an umbrella. However, unlike sturdier strollers, this one is designed to work on dry and flat surfaces only. It usually comes with a top that can protect your child from heat or rain. This is not advisable for zero month old infants because it lacks the necessary features that can fully support a fragile newborn. Nevertheless, this type of stroller is great to carry 3 months old babies and above.

The next style is the most common of all – the standard stroller. Being the most common, it has the largest selection as well. A standard baby carriage is a combination of an umbrella and an all-terrain type. Common features are the following – food tray, storage compartments, cup bins, feet warmers, wider hood, wheels made for indoor or outdoor strolling, and designed to carry newborns and up to 40 lbs weight. The more expensive brands are competing for the most lightweight with the most features and can range for up to $800 or more.

The more luxurious types of standard baby buggies can be converted into a car seat aside from being a stroller and a baby carrier. These are popularly known as baby travel systems. They are great for families who are always on the go and need the convenience of a 3-in-1 system. It makes the transition from the car to the stroller a breeze and the baby bassinet is great for air travel as well. A baby travel system is more expensive having the most features compared to a standard type that is used for one purpose only.

Last but not the least kind of baby carriage is the all-terrain. Now, this one is made for the more adventurous lifestyle. It is designed exactly for the outdoors and to go through bumpy grounds. Parents who love to go jogging in the park and want to bring baby along should buy this. Its rubber tires are built with suspensions that make it easier to maneuver and is more stable compared to other kinds. The latest styles are even more compact and lightweight, with added safety bars and straps. With these features, you can expect the all-terrain to be the most expensive of all.

Knowing the different kinds of baby strollers should help you in your purchase. There are many quality brands to choose from and reading product reviews from first hand users can also help you in narrowing down your choices. When it comes to strollers, you can expect that the higher price speak of better quality. However, this should not stop you from searching for better deals from online stores and sale outlets.

Some questions about strollers for infants?

I have decided againist the travel system. Too many health reports regarding the baby's posture as well as other parents saying they weren't as convinent as expected(please no comments, thsi is what I have decided for my baby.)Anyway, I am trying to get all the reviews I can for strollers.I want a lightweight, easy to fold one that is easy to maneuver. How early can you place the baby in the stroller? I don't want to attach a car seat but simply put the baby in there, so what age & what precautions do I need to take?
P.S.-already posted in newborn section w/ no luck....maybe some moms in here can help
The Bugaboo got great reviews but budget wise, I cannot see spending msot of my rent money for it! lol

I was JUST like you with my stroller preferences. It took me a while to decide on one.. my son is nearly 7 months and I'm REALLY happy with my decision! Check out the Bugaboo Bee!

It is lightweight, easy to fold up and carry, has a full recline and can be used from birth up! The canopy is great.. REALLY keeps the sun out! It handles amazing and the shocks are so good my son stayed asleep while going on cobblestone!

Edit: It's also folds up very compact! & the baby can face you or forward. Check out this demo video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U4qSKwv-l34

I found this one so great cause it could accommodate a 2 week old or a 2 year old without any alterations (other than height of the straps.)

Edit: Yea, I know what you mean! We weren't going to get it at first but my mother knew I liked it and gifted it. When we were planning on spending our own money we were going to get the Baby Jogger City Mini.. It folds up SUPER easy (just pull one handle), lays flat, rides very nicely, etc.

That link has some colors of it I've never seen so I wanted to post it.. but I know they are on babiesrus.com as well.
