Tips on Choosing a Baby Changing Bag

So you are expecting - great! Now there is so much to do. Your life is going to change dramatically, and there is a lot that you need to prepare for before the baby arrives. Of the many new baby products you'll be needing to buy one of the most important is your babies changing bag. However, finding the bags that's right for you can be difficult because there are just so many choices.

You will probably want to select a changing bag that has lots of room in it, is easy for you to handle and carry, and looks great too! Every new mother needs a changing bag to cart around baby clothing, diapers, pacifiers, toys, food, wipes and anything else you’re likely to need when out and about. However, size isn't everything and you may not simply go for the biggest available as you may spend too much time trying to find things. Consider what it is yoiu are likely to need and try to find one with the appropriate compartments.

You will probably want your baby changing bag to have a detachable changing mat, so much more handy for changing baby. You will also want a bag that has enough pockets and compartments for your baby stuff, especially diapers and wipes, but remember to look for one with an insulated pocket for your baby's bottle too. Finally, you’ll need to take into account the style and color of the bag itself. If you can get one that matches the baby stroller then great, but remember dad is likely to have to carry it too!

There are many different types of baby changing bags. Try to find one that suits your lifestyle best. Rather than a shoulder or hand carry bag you may want to consider a backpack version if you're likely to need both hands free (perhaps when pushing a stroller or holding a toddler's hand). They're also kinder to your back as the weight is easier to carry there than on one side. Remember though that shoulder bags are generally much quicker to access as they are easier to put on and take off. However, they will put all the weight onto one shoulder instead of dispersing it across your back, but if you're likely to be out and about with a large enough stroller or pram then it may be something you can keep in the carry basket.

Purchasing the right baby changing bag for you is a great way to make sure that you're all ready for your new baby's arrival.

When can you start putting the baby in a pram or stroller?

We're looking at different stroller solutions at the moment, and my husband thinks you cannot take the baby out in even a pram before 3-6 months old b/c the neck i so sensitive.

I think that is what the pram is for... although of course you won't be taking the pram on a xc course or anything...

Any advice? Can you put the baby in a pram and go for a walk from the get-go? Or do you have to use the car seat/ baby bjorn until the neck s stronger?

Thanks!

You can put your baby in the stroller from birth if the stroller is suited for it (read the instructions that come with the stroller). My personal experience with young babies and strollers is that at some point they'll start crying and you'll be carrying your baby and pushing an empty stroller. So, you'll probably be better off carrying baby in a carrier or sling until they're too heavy for you.
